there is no adjustment as it as already as a pully that does that, unless yours is

The 2.0 liter DOHC , Zetec engine in a 2004 Ford Escape has a timing BELT
The Ford Freestar, which was produced from 2004 to 2007, features a 3.9L V6 engine that is classified as a non-interference engine. This means that in the event of a timing belt failure, the engine's pistons will not collide with the valves, preventing potential catastrophic damage. However, it’s still important to maintain the timing components to avoid engine performance issues.
It does not have a Timing Belt. It has a chain, that needs no adjustment.
To tighten the belt tensioner on a 2004 Ford Explorer with a 4.0L engine, first, locate the tensioner pulley on the serpentine belt system. Use a wrench or a ratchet with a socket to turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise, which will relieve tension on the belt. While holding the tensioner in this position, you can then remove or adjust the serpentine belt as needed. Once the belt is properly positioned, slowly release the tensioner to reapply tension to the belt.
