there is self adjusting mechinsms in the drums. Just keep them lubed(ani-seize)
No you don't, the front and rear brakes are independent of one another. -Sean Ford Mechanic Riverside,CA
How do you remove the rear drum brakes on a 1998 ford escort
It has disc breaks in the rear. I believe the gt one has disc. in front and back and se one has front disc. and rear drum.
On the bottom of the back side of the drum, there is an oval, black rubber piece. Remove it and there is a gear inside that is used for adjusting.
They are self adjusting. You don't have to adjust them. Problem is the wear limit on the drum is only 1mm. When worn to the limit the adjusters don't work.
On a Ford Explorer : There are disc brakes on the front and ( starting with the 1995 model year ) there are disc brakes on the rear also ( instead of drum brakes on the rear )
To adjust the rear brakes you take off the wheel. Take the 2 Phillips head screws out of the brake drum. Insert two 13mm bolts into the brake drum and turn them clockwise. Tighten the bolts down while tapping the drum on the side with a hammer. After getting the drum off you release the pressure on the parking brake adjuster. Adjust the brakes until the drums go on with a little bit of friction. If the back drum brakes aren't adjusted tight enough the brake pedal wil go down too far.
It did not, not in 1969 they were drum brakes
You have drum brakes on the rear.
Some models of Ford Ranger have ( 9 inch ) rear drum brakes
Brakes are adjusted automatically
No , starting with the 1995 Ford Explorer the rear brakes are DISC
