You shouldn't be able to, if you are getting too much noise it may be time for new lifters, but a 4.0 will go quite a while after it starts making lifter noise.
no.
You don't. If you have valve clatter you have worn valve train parts starting with camshaft, lifters, push rods, rocker arms, rocker arm pivots and valves.
if it has a knock that is not the issue, cooling fan relay goes bad, they run hot & develop a knock inside the motor
Torch d head on2000 jeep cherokee sport ..
No, they are torqued to a specific amount and the lifter controls lash. No, they are torqued to a specific amount and the lifter controls lash.
If it is on a 4.7L engine, and the oil pressure is ok, then the lifters are failing.
rocker arm capscrews 19 ft-lbs that should be what your looking for... you don't torqe the rods, you torque the rocker arms and that's what its supposed to be
Gotta have the correct torque specifications and tighten those nuts on the spring assemblies. Too tight, and they don't flutter right. Too loose, and they allow the rocker arms to wiggle out of whack. My apologies for not being more specific,I'm just a 'driveway mechanic'. You need to replace the locknuts for the rockers. I'm not sure if they are positive stop or not.
go to autozone.com there are very good directions on their site
Rocker Arm problems, specifically with them falling off, are common with 2000 JGC's. You can get the code read, which will point to the cylinder that has the failed rocker arm and then remove the left or right rocker cover to inspect. The problem with the falling off rocker arms tends to be a slippage of the valve guides that leaves the valve to hang up and removes the stress from the rocker so it just falls off. Replace the heads. Replace the HEADS? Sounds drastic. How about repairing the heads?
The valves are not adjustable on a 1998 Jeep.
you cannot adjust you need new clutch.
