To adjust one's screen resolution on a Windows computer, right click on the mouse when the pointer is over the homescreen. Press "adjust screen resolution" and adjust to one's needs.
I have a laptop with a screen resolution of 1366x768 and i was told it was a 1080i resolution I'm not entirely sure

Assuming you meant screen resolution, first go to Control Panel. Then under 'Appearance and Personalisation', click on 'Adjust screen resolution'. After that, next to 'Resolution', click on the drop down menu. From there, adjust the slider until you find your preferred screen resolution. Then, click the 'Apply' button. Finally, the screen resolution will change and you will be given 15 seconds to decide if you still want that screen resolution. If by 15 seconds, you have not made a decision, the screen resolution will be reverted to what it was like before.
You can only adjust the size of some browser windows, usually only those that were already opened by JavaScript code. You can not adjust the size of the main browser or the entire screen.

As long as you have your graphics card driver installed, you can adjust the screen resolution in Display Properties (right-click the desktop and select "Properties"). Note that if you have an LCD monitor, it must support this resolution, or it will either not display or only work via scrolling.
