No you don't need to be a member to have a question answered.
You shouldn't need to be a member to answer questions on the site. If the question is already answered, it could be protected, which would prevent some people from adding to it, but unanswered questions should be able to be answered by anyone.
To get your question answered on wiki.answers.com you simply type in your question and wait for it to be answered r if you are Lucky you can just type the answer and will already be answered.

You can ask a question and answer your own question. You can then ask another question. If you ask a question that has already been answered you will see that in the asking process.
First of all you have to be a member to do so. To post an answer you click on the question you wish to answer then click 'answer it'. If it's already answered click on 'improve answer'. That's all easy isn't it? ;)
First find the question. Then press edit answer and you can write in there what you wish then press save and you have also answered the question
