tell them? honesty is good. they're not trying to catch you out, they're just trying to gage if you're right for the job- if you earned more than they're offering, they might offer more. or offer you the chance to climb their ladder if you're any good at your job.
if you don't/have never had a job, just say so and/or tell them how much you'd like to be earning, or how much you're currently getting per year in allowance/welfare.
