The majority of the scammers that you will run into on Craigslist are actually overseas and are pretending to be selling a car in the area that they have the car listed. As Craigslist states, always do business locally. If the person is local, you can meet them to show the the car and make payment arrangements.

I'd have to somewhat disagree with the above poster - scams period are abundant on craigslist be it auto - realestate - apt or goods by plenty of locals in the area be it yours or mine or his/hers.
Funny that the US government was so conserned about the sex industry (ie escorts) placing ads on craigslist but not the real crimes against the people. The ones that hurt people in the pocket book. The easiest to find - takes 1 minute and you'll run into a local scam or just plain illegal business practices on craigslist. Especially in Auto / Realestate which is something that would be a considered a basic public need and want.
To answer the question: How to arrest craigslist auto scammers - call your local authorities if local or the county they are in give them as much info as you can.
Get vin numbers if checking out a car and you find it is not road worthy and being sold as road worthy. You can also report them to Craigslist though they probably will just repost. Also - the Feds have a internet scam site you can report the scam to with online links - get screen shots of everything. The federal agency is probably over wrought with online scam reports - so don't expect much. I've reported many and got nothing back ever - we're talking in years since reporting the scam or fraud.
Personally I'm all for going back to - meet them - if they rip you off - get your money back then shoot 'em so they don't do it again. Bet it would cut back on the scams if this happened and word got out it would happen. lol
As mentioned - the local gov. is the way - but don't hold your breath - they're more intersted in the online sex industry than crimes against the people - it means actually doing some leg work - paper work and making an arrest - and why do that when eating donuts and looking at hot chicks let alone meeting them will suffice.
So you're basically on your own is what I'm saying - good luck though.
Nope but you should be aware of all the scammers mingling the internet.
Yes, Craigslist is the main one.
craigslist
How can I register my car on cregslist
No it isn't. I have used it before to get a rock band set. It is actually safer then eBay in my opinion. ------------------------- While Craigslist is not a scam, there are many scammers that are using the site as a way to find their victims. The scammers do not want to invest money into ads, so sites like Craigslist offer them a place where they can post ads for items for sale, rooms for rent, employment ads or talk to people who are looking for relationships. All of these can be a way for a scammer to get to know their victim. If you ever encounter someone on Craigslist that wants you to wire them money, or sends you a cashier's check or money order and the wants you to wire a portion of that on to someone, it is a scam.
If they can find you, Yes, They will most likely arrest you.
You can find Avis car rental coupons on the actual Avis Car rental website and Craigslist. The coupons on the actual website works for any car rental but the coupons are Craigslist are fraud and does not work at all. So please, do not purchase coupons on Craigslist.
Try Craigslist.

Go to a junkyard and look there. Or look on craigslist, lots of people will sell their cars on craigslist. Or maybe a relative can sell your son a car.
It is safe as long as you are beware of scammers and you protect your privacy. Some other tips to stay safe is using a different email address so that yours is not public and never giving out your phone number. If these tips are followed then Craigslist is definitely safe.
