Treadmill test is the basic test prescribed by doctors to check the cardiovascular endurance.

In this the subject is made to walk on a treadmill with a constant monioring of the subjects heart rate.

Here they check for a peak heart rate and the time taken to reach it and also the time taken to come back to normal heart rate

cardio vascular endurance testing is of different types. For that first we need to classify the client based on the risk factors. we can classify in to mild, moderate and svere risk categories. For an elite athlete who is a marathon runner or a physically active recreational athlete treadmill testing will not be an appropriate one.

See how long it takes you to walk / jog / run 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles.

Do it on fairly flat ground, not hilly, for the assessment.

If you have good cardio endurance, you should be able to at least slowly jog the entire route and finish in about 30-35 minutes.

If you're out of shape but not really unhealthy, you should be able to jog a little, then walk until you get your breath and pulse back to near normal, and maybe finish the route in 40 minutes. Or you might walk it all, but unusually fast at a pace that lets you finish in 50 minutes.

If you have to walk it all slowly and it takes you more than an hour to finish 3 miles, you're in what I'd call unhealthy shape. Time to diet, exercise, and start doing cardio 3 or 4 times a week.
