You can'tassigntwo different drives the same letter. If you are having an hard drive or hard disk then you can make different partition and then assign each partition differently, but can not assign same letter for two or more drives.
Windows does not allow you to label an unallocated space. You must create a partition and format first if you want to make use of this space.
Windows XP only recognizes FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS partitions. If it is not one of these (such as ext3 or ReiserFS), it will report it as an "unknown partition."

go into run or if your running on vista/win. 7, click on search on the start bar and search "cmd"(without quote marks) and right click and click on run as admin. then type type this in this order and following with an enter after it.
