There are many types of bracelets, including charm bracelets. Standard, non-charm, bracelets usually do not contain any sort of charm which dangles. A tennis-bracelet, for example, is a simple bracelet of diamonds, rhinestones, or other gems neatly strung together. The bracelets which many women of India wear are solid metal, such as silver or gold. Charm bracelets typically have a chain. From this chain, the wearer may attach charms which dangle from it.
You can attach them to any type of bracelet but check the dimensions of the holes to the clip first.

I would not use toothpaste. I have seen videos where really cheap jewelry was cleaned using toothpaste and it did make the jewelry shinier than before.Toothpaste is abrasive so it is kind of like using fine sand paper on your jewelry. Using toothpaste is an old wives tale. You can use a toothbrush with a cleaning solution. The solution I use and many jewelry stores is half Mr. Clean and water with a small amount of water. Soak for 15 seconds then rinse with water and dry.I will attach a link that has more information.
