What does 14K GF mean?

In the U.S., solid gold jewelry is marked with the purity and the hallmark (trademark) of the maker. So, for example, my wedding ring is marked "14K FG" which means it is 14 karat gold, made by Frederick Goldman, Inc. The maker's hallmark can usually be found by searching the US Patent and Trademark Office's trademark database (but the search will probably be tedious).

There is, however, an exception, and that is that "GF" is the standard abbreviation for "gold filled" which means it is a cheaper metal core coated with gold on the outside. In other words, it is not solid gold. It would be simply crazy for any jewelry maker to select the hallmark "GF" when that normally mean that it is not solid gold, so you can expect that anything marked "14K GF" is not solid gold, although it should also have an indication of the gold content, e.g. "1/20 14K GF" would mean that the gold coating is 14 karat gold, and is 1/20th of the total weight.

What do you use for the string in beaded necklaces?

Necklace StringMost beaders use Nymo nylon beading thread in the size that corresponds to the type of beads used (seed beads, hex, pony beads, etc).

Anything one might need or want relating to beading and jewelry making including free patterns and instructions can be found at Fire Mountain Gems which is, IMO. the best wholesaler of beads, gems, jewelry findings, finished products, and so forth.

C-Lon, is also popular.

For heavier threaded bead necklaces, tigertail is often used; it is a thread made up of strands of stainless steel and coated. Softflex is a common brand.

There is also elastic or tiger tail

Not all beading wire is created equal. I suggest getting samples of the wire you are interested in and figuring out which one works best for you.

I use Fireline or Wildfire, it's made by Beadalon and cannot be torn, snagged or cut untless you physically use a pair of scissors. It has a breaking weight but as you're only going to be beading with it, that's of little consequence

As a teacher of beaded jewellery, I have to agree with the last answer. Fireline and Wildfire are brilliant, although I do use C-lon for delicate work.

How do you fix a necklace?

The best option to do would be to take it to the nearest Jeweler otherwise you will break it even more.

If there is a small break then you can even check the videos on YouTube and try to fix it. You can even read certain blogs written by the fashion experts and they will tell about the fixing. If you have purchased the designer necklace online then you can also contact to that seller so that he can provide you an idea of fixing it.

If the necklace can't be repaired and looking shabby after the repairing being done or it is costing much more in repairing then instead of wasting money in that you can even buy new and trendy necklaces from Fortrove.com or any other jewelry store you can have a look.

Can Seventh-day Adventists girls wear necklaces?

Seventh-day Adventist girls can wear anything they would like. There is no set requirement and no one is shunned or removed from membership over it. However, most Adventists hold to the belief that jewelry is unnecessary and unbecoming to a Christian. We believe that God created us all to be beautiful (though sin may have marred His handiwork) and that we should not attempt to improve on it. It also seems a little silly when you think about it in context: after all, aren't heavens streets paved with gold? Doesn't it seem a little silly to run around wearing pavement on our ears, fingers, and around our necks?

What is the purpose of the braided necklaces many of the major league pitchers are wearing?

Titanium Necklaces One of the latest trends in baseball necklaces includes the Phiten Brand Titanium Necklace. Baseball players report better control, less pain, and more stamina from wearing this special neckwear and bracelet designed in Japan. Aqua Titanium has been popular among Japanese Baseball players for years, and even though there is some scientific debate as to its effectiveness, players can't do without them. Given that baseball is a sport surrounded by superstition, cursed goats, pianos in lakes, unchanged socks, and lucky bats, it doesn't matter whether the Phiten Titanium Necklace can make you better on the field, considering Yogi Berra's immortal quote on how much of the game is mental. Make sure to order your titanium necklace before next year's baseball season, and enjoy it off the field as well. The necklace comes in all MLB team colors and styles, so you can cheer on your team while you enjoy the "energy" effects of these fine necklaces.

Why does your necklace clasp turn towards the front and can you stop it?

It does this because it is the heaviest part of your necklace and gravity pulls it downward. If you make the rest of your necklace heavier or find a light clasp that will help. Another view: I don't think it's gravity pulling the clasp down, this would be a very small effect compared to the friction against your skin. I think the correct answer is that your movements during the day, turning your neck, etc., cause the necklace to rotate. The clasp stops in the front because it gets caught on the pendant (otherwise it would probably continue back up and around.) I wonder if anyone has tried this?

Are phiten necklaces dangerous to you?

No they aren't dangerous. All the necklace does is help you play better and get more risk while being a cool thing to wear. It will not increase your chances of injury or death.
