If you are concerned about positioning your client, most likely you are working on clients that have limited mobility. If that is the case, to stay within your scope of practice, you are not responsible for their inability to perform the activities of an average client.

In other words, if they need help on, or off, the table, getting dresses and undressed, then they need to have a caregiver do that for them. That is not your responsibility. So therefore, there should not be a situation where you are concerned about potential discomfort or injury to anyone, yourself, or the client.

The possible risks are that you when try and move them, they may end up falling on the floor and getting injured. The other is that they fall on you, and you get injured.

In that scenario, the worst one is if they fall on you and both of you are incapacitated, then there is no one there that can call 911. If it comes down to that, then chose to let the client get injured so that you can remain functional and get to the phone and call for help.
