• If you want to be a good parent you have to be committed. You need to have a suitable income so that you can afford to be the best parent you possibly can. Always put your children first and don't be afraid to ask more experienced friends or relatives for advice. It may not seem important now, but the name you give your child can really affect their social life. you want to pick a name with a nice meaning, for example "Cameron" mean crooked nose and children can be teased about their name meaning. The name "Hannah" means grace of God, and the name "Dylan" means sea. you also have to be prepared for awkward questions your child may ask you such as "how are babies made?" or "why do boys and girls have different pee pees?" What ever you do, don't lose your temper if your child pees in his pants or wets the bed, chances are they didn't mean to. and don't let just anyone look after your child, only leave them with people you trust.

• There is no book of instructions that comes with raising children and it is important to remember that each child has a different personality so it is not fair to compare one sibling against the other. Parents should be on a best friend basis with their children and this does not mean trying to be their best male friend or best girlfriend and acting like it, but that your child feels comfortable discussing any problems with either parent; good quality time with your child; lots of laughter and fun; learning to discipline when needed and learn to praise when they deserve it. Learning to say 'no' to your child and not be afraid to be unpopular in the eyes of that child for a short time. Parents are there to teach their children right from wrong; perhaps a faith in a religion to balance their lives where they will feel less alone as they mature; learn to be kind and generous without doing so to a fault; teach them to be confident in themselves without becoming arrogant or self indulgent; teach them to share their feelings and with items that they own such as toys when they are younger. Encourage the best education you can financially afford and be there to pick them up when they have fallen down in life from any problems they may have and no matter how old a parent's child is the parents should still be there to offer their love, wisdom and support.
