If you saved the gremlins in the library and ball room, they'll destroy two machines for you. If so, then drop a tv on the power pad, an anvil on one of the two pressure pads (in this order, since tvs last longer) and then jump on the pressure pad you didn't put an anvil on. If you want the thinner path, then thin out the red spot on the machine that's exposed whenever it opens.
