Normally, you cannot be appointed a Senior Supervisor without in the first instance being a supervisor. A senior supervisor or 'seasoned' Supervisor - is responsible for a top-level category working and coordinating with all Category Supervisors within that top category area.

After time (which is normally minimum 12 months service on the site), track record of dedication, experience as a supervisor and keeping within the guidelines and supervisors code of conduct, you may then become eligible to be considered for selection as Senior Supervisor on Answers.com. The decision is made by the Senior Community Team in conjunction with the Community Assistants. Answers.com staff are normally assigned Senior Supervisor status since they are employees of the company.

A general guide but the list is not exhaustive:

  • There are certain things that we look for when making the decision to give someone Senior status (which is more recognition than anything else):
  • Nominations
  • Does this person take on special roles in the community?
  • Does this person act as mediator or facilitator on disputes and refer the more involved to a CA/Dispute Resolution?
  • Is this person active in resolving community tech issues?
  • Is this person in constant communication with the community?
  • Always looking for new ways to go above and beyond the Call of Duty
  • Active on site
  • Tenure of at least one year on the site (with active participation)
  • Currently a Mentor
  • Currently a Vandal Patrol Member
  • Has this person received official warnings from Community Assistant as part of the Supervisor Code Of Conduct?
  • Have other contributors written in to Support or Community Assistant with complaints?
  • Have CA's had any issues or concerns?

Seniors to have a great attitude, be respectful of fellow Supers, be quite involved on the site and be willing to help others without being critical or judgmental.

There is no time requirement. Senior Supervisors happen very rarely, when a remarkable level of trust has been established between the site and a volunteer, and when there is a need. It isn't something that happens to everyone, and isn't something that you can work for. It is only something that can be given.
