According to author Malcolm Gladwell in the book Outliers, the best way to achieve excellence in any field is massive practice. He gives 10,000 hours of practice as the number of hours necessary to become really outstanding at something. Ten thousand hours is about ten years of dedicated practice, so you might not be able to achieve that much practice before junior high. However, intense practice is the way to achieve excellence. Be sure to get more practice than anybody else and keep it up on a daily basis.
