You need more than 500 contributions to become a Bronze Contributor. More for higher levels. See "What are the various contributor levels on WikiAnswers.com?" for more information.
Basically just contribute a lot of quality answers, questions, merge, split, re categorize, edit etc. After 500 contributions you can become a Bronze Contributor, after 5,000 you can become a Silver Contributor and so-on and so forth. You can also become a supervisor. The more quality work you do the more you move up in rank.
The more you contribute (answer, recategorize, etc.) the higher ranked you become if you contribute enough you become contributor of the month. Remember you need to have a WikiAnswers Account for your contributions to be logged

To get a new contributor rank, you must contribute more to the WikiAnswers community. For example, to get the Bronze contributor rank you must make at least 500 contributions.
A wolf gets its rank by working its way to dominance, by being stronger than those around it of similar rank. The alphas then notice this and they become higher in rank. It is not uncommon for those of low rank to become future alphas, if they have the strength to overthrow their leader.
