- Type in lusrmgr.msc
- Open it
- Click GROUPS
- Click Administrators
- Click Add
- Click Advanced
- Click Find Now (There may be over 10,000 user names!)
- Find your user name
- Double click it
- Click OK
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- Log-off
- Log-on
Then you should be an administrator. If it doesn't allow you to open the shortcut link then your computer is more secure then normal and you can't become an administrator.

∙ 14y agoIf you are given the permissions, you go to your control panel, and to the user accounts icon, (classic view on vista). There, you select the user and press the change account type option and you select administrator instead of standard user. If it says administrator already, then you were already an administrator to begin with.
