How do you become meek?

Being meek means not imposing your will on others, and accepting them imposing their will on you. If you can do that without being annoyed then you are a meek person.

The Hebrew word (a-naw'), which is translated 'meek' has it's root in the word 'anah', meaning 'humble, humiliate, afflict'. Moses, with his strength of character and righteous determination, was, none the less, considered 'the meekest of all men' (Numbers 12:3)at that time. Centuries later, Jesus meekly endured horrendous personal injury as he took a strong stand for righteousness, and humbly taught God's truth, as prophesied (Hebrews 12:2/Acts 8:32-35/Isaiah 53:7). Meekness in no way involves 'weakness', but rather a 'mild temperment without vanity or haughtiness' along with a peaceful inner strength coming from solid faith . It causes one to patiently endure without resentment. One who is 'meek' is also usually gentle and 'TEACHABLE', that is, humble enough to listen and be taught (Psalm 25:9), accepting discipline and scriptural correction when needed(Hebrews 12:4-11), searching for God's truth(Psalm 149:4/Proverbs 3:34/Acts 17:27) and patiently waiting for God's appointed time(Psalm 37:8-11). One becomes 'meek'(teachable) by humbly acknowledging a need for God, searching for him with an open mind and heart(Zephaniah 2:3 /Psalm 119:169) and allowing him to mold our mind, heart and lives. Christians who desire to be 'meek'(teachable), will search God's Word, The Bible(Psalm 119:105/John 17:17), pray for understanding(James 1:5/1John 3:22), obey what is taught(Matthew 7:21-23), and patiently await the fulfillment of God's promises(Psalm 37:11+29/Matthew 5:5/Psalm 22:26/John 3:16).
