You put an FB modifier on the J code to show that the provider did not provide the medicine, you do this with samples and when patients bring their own medicine. Then also bill 96372 admin code with the j code so you will get paid for that. Christy Cicalla, NRCCS
What is the difference between administering medicine and assisting with medicine?
Administering medication means actually giving meds, especially by injection or other means than having the patient take the medication. Assisting with medication means assisting the patient administer their own medication, such as arranging them and having them ready for the patient to take, or reminding the patient to take their meds.

What type of reaction is a hypersensitivity to an allergen such as a bee sting?
Bee sting can give you all types of allergic reactions. In case of bee sting you receive an injection. Most dangerous of all is anaphylaxis due to the nature of poison. That means being injection of proteins. Patient can collapse. Blood pressure drops down and there is severe spasm of bronchial tree. Patient can die as a result of severe reaction. This type of reaction rarely comes. Very rarely it comes with out warning. That means you gets more and more severe reactions to the bee sting. In such case the patient may have to carry his own set of injection adrenaline, injection cortisol, (I prefer injection betamethasone sodium phosphate.) and some antihistamine injection like pheniramine maleate. Only half the ampule of adrenaline has to be given subcutaneously. Most of the cases respond to cortisol and antihistamine injection. Any further queries can be answered.
