Depending on what engine you have. There are small bleed valves. The 3.1 will have one almost straight up from the water pump located in the pipe. Also one in the thermostat housing. The 3.4 also has them but I am not sure if they are in the same places.
Crack the screws open slightly and start filling the system with engine off. when coolant starts coming out the bleed screws. Lightly close them. You will want to use a screw driver in the slot or a pliers if they are already stripped or rounded. They will get very hot and you can get burned while it is running.
Run the engine and allow it to come to operating temp. About 195 depending on thermostat used.
Slight crack the bleed screws periodically letting steam escape until it's a steady stream and the thermostat opens.
Always double check the coolant levels again after engine cools down and sits or the next day if possible.
While the engine is cold and the system is not filled yet. I like to back the screws out and add a touch of antiseeze to the threads. Keeps them from pissing you off in the future.
To bleed the cooling system on a 96 Acura 3.5 L, cool the radiator and remove the radiator cap. Loosen the drain plug and drain.
Doesn't have any. The system should self bleed.
Did you bleed the air valve? if you open any part of the cooling system on a dodge intrepid, ie: change the radiator hose or thermostat housing. You need to bleed the air out the Valve. If not the car will over heat.
not easy to get to. not even worth trying. just run the car with the cap off let it work out the bubbles, top it off , repeat until no more bubbles.
A coolant flush on a 96 Z34 Chevy Monte Carlo helps greatly with increasing the efficiency of the cooling system. It removes buildup and contaminants from the system.
Sounds like the engine is overheating.Air in cooling system or leak in system.
Overheating. Have the cooling system checked.
you need to bleed the system. Correct bleed the system. Look for a bleeder valve, that will be located on the highest point of the cooling system. Look near or on the thermostat housing. Look at all the cooling system hoses and look for this valve. Now if you don't find a valve then there is one way that will help to remove air. Either park the car on a steep hill with the front of the car heading up the hill or simply jack up the front of the car as high as possible. Turn the heater temp to hot, remove the radiator cap and start the engine. Allow it to reach operating temperature with the cap off, and most of the trapped air will escape through the radiator inlet. Add coolant if need be to keep it full.
No , the engine should be cool before adding any fluids to the engine cooling system
If an internet search did not produce the diagram then it can be found in the 96 Contour service manual. The manual can be found through most auto parts, or possibly the local library.
Does this Blazer have four wheel disc Brakes? NEW ANSWER: There's no reason to bleed brakes if you did not open the system.( where brake fluid came out )
The radiator alone, aprox one gallon. The complete cooling system, aprox 15 qts.
