If you haven't already, you will need to decide on the amount of multiple monitor displays you want or need. Picking a computer before you make up your mind about your display quantity is not recommended. This is because your graphics card configuration is dependent upon how many monitors you will be running.

Once you have decided the amount of monitors you want you can then select an appropriate computer system. You want to make sure that the RAM and the graphics card are 'up to snuff' with what you need your computer to do. You also want to make sure that all of the components going into your new PC are new and top of the line. Technology is constantly advancing, you don't want any parts that may have any new upgrades or have been discontinued.

Lastly is your hard drive and operating system. Computers that are going to be operating multiple monitors should come with at least a 500 GB hard drive. A 640 GB is recommended but you can start with the 500. The operating system is up to you. Some people prefer to stay with Windows XP and others have embraced the new Windows Vista.

Be sure to do your homework on all of the components that will be going into your new multiple monitor computer. You really need to have all the right equipment to drive the amount of monitors you are running. You wouldn't try to build a motorcycle with parts from a bicycle, would you?

I had some difficulty with this when I first decided to build my own multiple monitor computer. I found the guys at Multiplexpc.com to be extremely helpful. They explained all of the components to me and what exactly they did. I ended up purchasing my computer from them because they were just so helpful. Check 'em out!

How can you set up a computer with 2 to 4 video screens?

To enable multiple monitors, your computer must have multiple monitor outputs. These outputs can take many forms (such as VGA or DVI outputs) and your monitor will need to have the same plug type as the output. This may (and most likely) will require that your computer have multiple video cards. If your computer currently uses built in video, to add another monitor, you will need to purchase and install a new video card as well as a new monitor. Windows currently has fairly robust multiple monitor support and after installing the second monitor will most likely autodetect it and "extend" your desktop onto your new monitor.

If you have three computer monitors will you have to have three towers aswell?

No. The classic view of each computer having a single monitor is losing ground to a multi-monitor setup. In order to have more than one monitor running on a single computer, you'll either need a video card which supports multiple inputs or a motherboard in which you can install multiple video cards. Most modern video cards support at least two input channels. Modern motherboards which support multiple video cards are also becoming more and more common.
