Use software designed for the task. Memories on TV and Photos2DVD are two such products. They are not cheap but the results are worth it if you want professional looking results. They both include Ken Burns Effect. The iMovie app on the iMac has similar effects. Also check your burning software (Roxio, Nero, etc) as most include support for basic slideshows with audio.
