011 = international dialing prefix for calls from North America (USA, Canada, etc.)

+233 = telephone country code for Ghana

30 = city code for Accra (area code 030, but drop the trunk prefix 0)

(7-digit local number in Accra)

# = tells the telephone switch "no more digits"

Note that if you have an old telephone listing in Accra, the number may be shown as 021 (or +233 21), followed by a 6-digit local number. Change the area code to +233 30 and insert a 2 at the beginning of the local number. In other words, +233 21 xxx xxx changed to +233 30 2xx xxxx. See the related links for more information on the numbering changes that happened in 2010.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but North America (USA, Canada, etc.) uses 011, Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.)
