A kitten has to be fed 3 times a day, & you always have 2 make sure that their water is cleaned. You didn't tell how old the "baby" kitten is, but until their about 6 months old, (young cat), 3 meals a day.
Kittens bedding has to be cleaned daily, and their litter box so it doesn't stink up the house. You have to have extra toys to get the kitten interested and attracted at all times. Kittens will bite if they're petted way too much...so don't allow other people touch your kitty, even you friends; that can reveal stress pain.
It's cruelty to have a kitten in a cooped up space. Average indoor cats sit around around the house, but don't do that to your kitten until their used to you, so in case if they're lost, they'll trust you first. Make sure your kitten is used to the place it's in first before they can start roamin the house!! Kittens only defense is sharp claws and snappy teeth, so don't pet them in the stomach, around the face areas, ears, and never ever EVER play with their tail. If a kitten doesn't bite you until their six months old, chances are they will never bite you for the rest of their life time. Hope this helps :)
