You can start riding a horse at about 3 to 4 years but waiting 4 years is the safest. They need different food as they get older and may or may not need supplements as they get older. Young horses also need lots of exercise especially if they are too young to be ridden, but a huge pasture might be too big because they might not let you catch them easily. Any horse from 4 to 20 should be treated the same though.
