How do you catch El mustachio grande on wild west island?

He runs from you after you defeat his gang at their hideout, so you chase him and bring him back to Diamond Plains.

You first have to recover the two halves of the map to their hideout (lower left on the main map).

Getting one half involves getting a saddle from Rock Ridge, swapping it for an oil can at Dusty Gulch, and fixing the tower clock in Diamond Plains. Once you ride the train and beat the train robbers, the bank in Rock Ridge is robbed and one half of the map is left behind.

For the other half, shoot the key from the claws of the canary at the upper right in Rock Ridge. Use it to enter the mine and you will eventually find a blue flower. Bring it to the big-headed kid in Dos Cactos, who has the map half.

You also need a way to sneak into the hideout. Swap for the gold pan at the trading post and pan for gold using a claim map you can win at the Dos Cactos casino. Use the gold nugget to buy the tonics from the peddler in Rock Ridge. The Transparency Tonic lets you turn invisible for a short time.

Inside the hideout, shoot 4 items that will drive the bandits out of hiding: a bag of coins, candle wick, musket rifle, and root beer jug. With his gang beaten, El Mustachio Grande makes a run for it. Chase him on horseback, lasso him, and bring him back to the jail.

The Hideout Map

To get the map to their hideout, stop them from robbing the train, and one half of the map is dropped at the burned-down bank in Rock Ridge. Get the other half by getting the blue tulip from the mine and bringing it to the big-headed kid in Dos Cactos.

You need the Transparency Tonic from the peddler to slip into the hideout.

The Shootout

In the shootout, keep them ducking so they don't shoot you. Shoot 4 items on the wall, each of which will chase an outlaw out of hiding.

1) To get the girl bandit from behind the safe, shoot the bag of coins above her.

2) To get the guy next to El Mustachio Grande, shoot the candle wick. It will burn through the rope and drop a sack on him.

3) To get the red-haired crook, shoot the musket on top of the fireplace, which will fire off and chase him out.

4) To get the outlaw in the sombrero, shoot the root beer jug. The wheel will roll off and block his hiding place.

When El Mustachio Grande makes a run for it, jump on your horse and follow him. Rope him and lead him back to Diamond Plains, where the whole gang winds up.
