do ya need to set timing on cam when changing head gasket on dawoo matiz 800cc
I'v had the same problem. Its most likely to be the auxiliary belt. Get it changed at your local garage. If it was the cam belt then the car wouldn't drive properly.
aslong as you hav not tried to start it with it snapped then there will be no damage just a new belt needed
I see no listing for the Daewoo Matiz. Other Daewoos are all Interferance engines, and as such if the belt breaks severe engine damage will occur. Here are other Daewoo models and the specs in miles for belt replacement. Find your engine and it will be the same. Lanos 1999-02 1.6L 4-Cyl. (DOHC) 60,000 Federal 102,000 Federal Leganza 1999-02 2.2L 4-Cyl. (DOHC) 72,000 Federal 102,000 Federal Nubira 1999-02 2.0L 4-Cyl. (DOHC) 72,000 Federal 102,000 Federal
In what sequence does it go back

The cam belt drives the cam, keeping it in time. If the cam belt breaks, the engine not only will not run, but could be damaged. Make sure to change the belt at the recommended intervals.
Can I answer my own question? - it was the distributer - probably the cam sensor but a scrapyard replacement cured the fault
Head was redrilled
Typical cam belt change interval is 70,000 miles
