I suspect it will much the same as for my FXR.
- Remove Rear wheel
- Remove the Primary chaincase completely (This step includes removing Primary Chain and Clutch basket)
- Remove the rear swing arm (This is the step I'm unsure of for Softtail)
- Remove old belt and replace
- Install the rear swing arm See TRANSMISSION CASE, INSTALLATION (if it was removed)
- Install the Primary chaincase as described under PRIMARY CHAINCASE, ASSEMBLY.
- Install the compensating sprocket, primary chain and clutch as described in the CLUTCH Section.
- Follow the installation procedures for REAR WHEEL described in Service Manual.
Unless you are Mechanically inclined let your dealer Mechanic's handle the job better to pay a little bit of money then lots because you screwed something up.
