unbolt the torque convertor and separate the transmission from the engine. the flex plate is attached to the crankshaft by 6 bolts that use an 11/16" socket. You'll probably need a tool to prevent the engine from turning because the bolts are usually very tight. You may need to heat the bolts to get them out. Sometimes there is loctite on the threads.
NO it will not FIT.
NO.
To my knowledge the only small block flex plate that doesn't interchange is the small block 400.
No. The balance is different, the engine will vibrate.
I have installed a 700r4 in place of a 350 in my 1959 chev and used the same flex plate with no problem.
Yes, you can switch this set up. You will need to remove the fly wheel and bolt on a flex plate for the transmission change. There are a couple of wiring issues with the alternator change, and the HEI distributor, both are easy to over come.
If its automatic check the flywheel (flex plate) its probably cracked.
Should be able to remove the inspection cover and look at it.
yes, they both use the same input. HOWEVER, the transmissions are different in length and your rear-crossmember won't line up if swapping them
NO, It won't change a thing.
Flex fans don't work very well on 350's. If you must use one, get the biggest one you can find. Better off to get an electric fan of at least 1600 cfm.
Must be the wrong starter . Chevys do NOT have shims on there starters, small or big blocks. Now ,pontiacs do. Olds or Buick not sure... CHEVY NO...........
