The fuel pump is located in the tank. You will need Pliers, a Phillips screw driver, a 14m and 13/16 wrench. Remove the back seat. Pry off access cover and you will see the top of the tank. Disconnect the 3 lines that go to the fuel pump. Remove 8 Phillips screws, and carefully pull out fuel pump assembly. Remove and replace strainer and pump. Reverse procedure for installation. NOTE: you will need silicone to reseal access cover. NOTE: Procedure was done on a 1995 Tercel, 1997 should be the same.
