It is very important that you do not touch the baby hamsters because then the mother will smell human on them, and she will eat the babies. What you need to do is transfer the babies with a plastic spoon or something to another location. The mother will eat her babies. So you want to keep them separate. After the babies are removed, clean the cage as usual.
12-14 days after birth
Hamsters can give birth to as many as 20 pups in a litter, though six to 12 is average.
they should start to look like hamsters after 11-12 days (some take longer/shorter than others) hope this helped! xoxo iluvedwardcullen16
Well hamsters can never have too much room but they can have too little. The smallest for two hamsters is one big cage. After that you can keep adding on, I have two roborovski dwarf hamsters and i attached two cages together and they love it, and they are small hamsters. Hope this info comes in handy
Hamsters aren't supposed to share cages if there syrians(dwarf hamsters can share a cage very happily). Your hamsters could kill eachother; hamster's nature is to roam alone. However, if you have one male hamster, and one female hamster, this may not apply, as the female can, well, you know, with the male and before you know it.... pop goes the BABIES. Be prepared.
yes, you can let hamsters out of the cage but you can't let them just wander around unsupervised, you must watch them carefully. Also, if you have dwarf hamsters, it probably isn't smart to let them out without them being in a ball of some sort, just because they are so fast, it would be very easy to lose them. You can also go to some sort of pet store (Petsmart or Petco) and get a small hamster playpen for around $12, but you still must watch them, because my hamsters have learned how to climb up it and escape.
Hamsters live from 3 up to 12 years.
No they are to young and may get very sick or there mother may eat them..i tried the same when my baby hampster was the same age..GOOD LUCK
Yes they so but only sometimes when baby hamsters are born don't touch them until they grow a coat because if you touch the hamster when its a baby it will gain human smell so the mom will eat it and either way the male will eat it anyway when its a baby so put the male hamster in a different cages
The biggest litter of hamsters would be 12 babies
This could be a number of things. You first need to check that there is nothing in the hamsters cage with could scratch it and consequently cause fur loss. If you find anything you should remove it from the hamsters cage. It also could also be stress which is causing the hamster to loose fur. Check that the hamster is getting 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark and also that there are no loud noises or changes of temperature disturbing it. With old age hamsters tend to loose a bit of fur also, so it could just be a natural thing.
hamsters can have around 6 to 12 babies at a time. sometimes they can have more but its not likely that they will. just be careful not to breed them more than 6 times or they could become stressed and die!
