The suggested spark plug gap on a 1997 Yamaha YZ 80 is .036. That is the standard gap for most Yamaha small engines.
I had a similar problem. It was a coil pack. They are about 80 bucks. Fairly easy to fix. If you know how to change a Spark Plug, you should be able to change a coil pack.
i use ngk cr7hsa in my 79 xr 80, its a pritty standed plug a Honda shop should have it
if your 1996 kx80 is all stock you're looking for a ngk r6254k plug
First of all, once a spark plug fouls it must be replaced with a new one. The plug is ruined and will continue to foul. If new plugs continue to foul, it could be too rich fuel mixture from problems in the carb. It could mean the piston, rings, or cylinder is worn and needs to be fixed, replaced or the cylinder be bored. Make sure it is not getting too much oil.
it depends on the year. i have a 1978 80hp and it takes a champion copper marine plug. the part # is L78V
Betewen .028 and .034 inch I gap in my Audi 80 1992 2.3l in .030 .
Use a spark plug socket, long extension and ratchet. Don't over-tighten the spark plug. Just snug.If you are changing the plugs, you might as well change the wires, cap and rotor as well. It is an inexpensive do it yourself job, (about $80 depending on what brands you buy). Just be very sure you write down on a piece of paper, what wire goes to which plug from the cap. Otherwise you will be in the shop getting it fixed. If you do not follow the correct order, you will have miss fires.
