disconnect the positive side of battery. make sure that that's the problem first make sure that the starter is not bad are you have a bad battery. If that OK the solenoid is on passengers side get a new one so you can have it too look at right down all the wires down on a paper on what side go's were so it will go back the same way...
Passenger side of the engine.
Where is the starter on a 1990 lincoln mark 7
Follow the positive battery cable; first it goes to the starter solenoid then to the starter. I hope this helps you. Mark
Loose or corroded wiring or a bad starter. Follow the short positive cable from the battery to the starter solenoid; This is a weak link ;replace the solenoid and check and clean your remaining connections. If this just happened, I believe this will get you going. Mark

where is the starter relay located on a 1990 Lincoln mark 7
You might need to remove exhaust pipes, a frame crossmember, and sometimes unbolt and slightly lift the engine to access the starter motor! Check first to see if you have the Ford Solenoid near the battery, then check to see if you can get the starter out easily. Then proceed. # Disconnect battery # Mark wires and terminals on starter motor and solenoid for reconnecting. # Remove 1 bolt from the top front, and one from the lower rear of starter to detach starter # Remove cable connecting solenoid and starter # Remove the two screws from the solenoid # Twist clockwise and pull to completely remove solenoid # Reverse above procedure to put it all back If you happen to have the Ford/Motorcraft solenoid (rare, but possible), then the above can be skipped, it is on the fender well next to the battery. In that case, disconnect battery, mark wires/terminals for reconnecting, unbolt solenoid and cables, replace.
It is on the left rear of the engine.
First thing before you begin is to remove the Negative cable on the battery, this will keep you from shorting out on the starter wires. Try to look at the solenoid on the starter and mark the wires with tape so you know which wire goes on which terminal. I usually take off the big wire first at the starter then take off the small wires.
It's on the drivers side of the transmission.
