To change a tail light on a 1988 Celebrity: Open the trunk. Look on the back of the side light you want to change. There will be several 10 mm nuts. Remove the nut in the center of the tail light lens. It is usually silver. The lens will then pull out a bit, then there is a tab into the backup light, pull the lens out of that. You can then remove the light socket and replace the bulb.
The 2006 Jeep Liberty rear tail light lens does not come off. The tail light is seal. You can access the tail light lightbulb through the back of the tail light, in the cargo compartment.

The tail light is an assembly. The lens is not removable. To replace a bulb you remove the assembly by opening the liftgate, removing two fasteners, and pulling the light rearward.

The tail light lens on a 1989 Chevy Celebrity is part of the tail light fixture and cannot be conveniently removed. If you want to change a light bulb you have to remove the tail light fixture from the car. To remove the tail light fixture: 1. Pull the tail light fixture so that the stud comes out of the body, then pull outward to pull the tab out of the backup light fixture. 3. You can now take the appropriate socket out and replace the bulb. Reverse the steps to replace the light fixture.

You can access the tail light assembly from the cargo compartment. Remove the tail light connector. Grab the lightbulb, push in and turn at the same time. The lightbulb will come out. Reverse the process to install your new tail light.
The taillights are an assembly. The lens covers can not be replaced separately
In order to change a bulb in the tail light of a Chevy Celebrity you must remove the tail light assembly from the car. To remove the tail light assembly" 1. In the trunk next to the quarter panel there are nuts that hold the rear header on, the center nut holds the tail light assembly on. It will be in the center of the tail light assembly near the outer edge. Take the nut off and pull the tail light assembly out until the stud clears the body. 2. Pull the tail light assembly to the side to disengage the tabs from the backup light panel. 3. Twist the appropriate socket to remove it from the tail light assembly, then unplug the lamp and replace it. Reverse the steps to reinstall the tail light assembly.
There are several torx head screws around the rim of the lens. If it just one of the bulbs that needs changed and the screw heads are stripped, you can get to the bulbs by reaching under the tail fin and into the back of the light.

I have 1998, 2002 may be similar. Mine has 2 screws on top of lens assembly. Open the rear hatch, remove 2 screws, pull assembly out. Access bulbs from the rear by twisting sockets out of lens assembly. Probably bulb #1157 for tail brake light
You open the trunk hatch lid and approach the rear light panel by taking the cover off of the light panel. No need to remove the outter lens at all. You pull the light panel back to gain access to the bulbs.
There are two screws on the outside of the lens that are easily visible and must be removed. Then there is one other screw that is accessible only from inside the rear doorposts. That screw must also be removed to detach the lens and access the tail/stop/backup light sockets that must be twisted out to remove the bulbs.
