big job take like 5 days to do it. there is timing marks on the cams so very easy, you will be able to do it without special tools. you will need to remove the engine. I dont recommend to any body to replace the engine if you only have a timing chain guide or tensioner problem, this is a very common problem of this engine, better to fix it you put a new timing kit and you can put more 100k miles in the car.
It might not be the timing chain, check if the exhaust muffler has not come adrift.
