if it's an older (late eighties/early nineties) grand marquis, then you have the ratchet jack. there is a notch on your front and rear bumper. assemble the jack with the plate, post, and ratchet, then raise the jack up to meet the notch in the bumper. make sure the jack is LEVEL, then continue to raise by putting the breaker bar in the socket and move it up and down until it raises the car.
(note: be sure to loosen lugs BEFORE raising car, or you'll have a helluva time doing so)
Under the spare tire.
I believe it's under the spare tire in the trunk
The Jack is stored under the Hideaway Spare in the trunk. There should be a sticker showing how it's stored.
Standard floor jack, 4 way lug wrench, "c" clamp large enough to compress pads, and a ½ inch socket wrench with extension.
Drain the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank. The Filter is inside of the fuel tank. You'll need a lift and several Jack Stands to hold the tank up. Good Luck.
Jack the car up in the back. You will need a trolley jack for this job. Use jack stands under the body of the car, you can use 6x6 wood blocks also, use jack stands under the diff. Now, car body is on blocks, and diff in on jack stands, remove the lower bolt for the shocks, with the trolley jack remove the jack stands on the diff, and lower the diff. just enough so that you can pull the coil springs out.
jack up car and change plugs from behind each front tire.
where is the tire jack and jack handle located on a 2002 mercury mountaineer?????
Not needed as the thermostat is on top of the engine on the right.
Jack set
If the car is on a hoist it is easier. With the car on jack stands and you on your back, very, very hard. You need small hands, or send the car off to someone with a hoist.
