It's a very long job. If you've ever done a timing belt, that's about how long it takes, because you have to take off the timing belt in order to get to the water pump. In fact, you have to take off all of the belts, a few idler pulleys, and I think the crankshaft pulley. I did it on mine about 5 years ago, so its been a while. The best thing to do would be to pick up a repair manual at any auto parts store and follow it. That's what I did and it was pretty thorough.

The water pump on the Mazda 'KL' V6 motors is on the passenger's side of the engine, in the center, under the motor mount, right beside the strut tower. The power steering pump belt also runs the water pump. To replace the pump you will need to remove the timing belt and tensioners, so it is advised to do everything at once when one or the other needs changed.
