I have not done it yet, but I have been told by more than one Volvo Dealership that it requires removing the gas pedal to get to the cabin air filter (it's apparently on the driver's side). Good luck!
It is located to the right of the gas pedal. Remove the center console panel. You might have to remove the gas pedal to get at it.
how do u perform an oil change on the 01 Volvo s40
Behind the glove box and fuse box. It's a right Cun* to do don't bother, go to Volvo
The oil filter is located underneath the engine, passenger side. You will see it in a black plastic housing. The Volvo S40 doesn't use a traditional metal style oil filter. You can order the filter from your Volvo dealer or K&N makes one as well, model # HP-7002. You will need a special wrench to remove the filter, you can order this from your Volvo dealer or from Amazon.com (search for Volvo S40 filter wrench), made by AST/Assenmacher, cost is roughly $14.00.
Purchase a Purolator cabin filter. It comes with detailed instructions.
