no timing belt
No, not if the belt was installed correctly.
Remove the timing belt cover and inspect the belt or change it every 90K miles.
Suggested ( 60k miles )
changing the timing belt is a 1 time shot. 3000gt engines are interference motors, which means if the belt breaks or slips the pistons will hit and bend the intake and exhaust valves. you can also hit the valves if you do not correctly time the cams and crankshaft properly. if you still feel like taking a chance you can got to www.stealth316.com and www.team3s.com they have technical pages that explain in depth how to change the timing belt. mitsubishi recommend 54000

Belt
Are you sure the belt has stretched? 3000gt have a Hydrolic tensioner and the belt can appear to be lose if the engine had been off for a while. Need to replace belt every 60k according to oem specs. I do every 120k
