If one is interested in purchasing a replacement shift knob it is recommended to check out popular stores like Auto Zone or Rock Auto. Also, Amazon may offer these as well. Make sure to check out the local listings in one's area.
Simply grab the knob, and turn it counter-clockwise while gripping it tightly.
Yes, a universal shift knob will work in the Volkswagen Golf. The shift knob is added to the shift column by removing the top of the knob and using the included screw to attach the knob.
You don't, keep the stock one and return the one you bought. It's dumb to change a gear shift knob, it's like changing the buttons on your tv remote.Pointless The shift knob on the manual transmission "just" pulls off. With that said it takes a lot of force (as in, when it finally lets go don't hit yourself in the face). The good news is putting it back on takes much less effort. I don't know about the auto.
standard or auto? if standard there is a smooth metal ring directly below the rubber shift knob and above the leather boot. This ring will turn counter-clockwise a quarter turn. You may need to get some pliers on it but it will turn. After turning this ring a 1/4 turn counter clockwise the shift knob will pull straight up and off. You will definitely need to rock the shift knob back and forth as you pull up on it. if auto you need to pull down the silver ring (pulls down pretty hard) and then there is a small hex screw in the front for tightening the shift knob.. unscrew this and the knob will come right off
