How do you change from def to range for the experience in runescape?

Experienced gained in a skill cannot be exchanged to another skill; assuming you meant it that way, there is no way you can simply swap over the experience like that. Unfortunately, you'll have to work on your skill.
Or, if you meant to change your skill goal, right-click the 'XP' button near the minimap and select 'setup'. You can set goals or change the display from there, or by right-clicking a skill in the Stats tab.
