really, if I am thinking right it is the little electronic component fastened by two screws to the steering column with wire harnesses plugged in.
disconnect negative cable on battery. unscrew and remove column plastic covers first, of course. then look for the switch on the right side of the column. unplug harness and unscrew switch. replace with new one in reverse order. Google a photo if you can't find it. invest in a Haynes manual too.
To make it easy yes, otherwise you have to drill out the old one.

either the ignition switch or the lock cylinder itself is bad. I would change both and check the rod that goes into the switch to make sure it is not binding up

If you know where to put the key in, you know where the ignition switch is... Actually, safe to say you should stay away from it.
