I wish to change the left side tie rod on a punto mk1 as is working loose, consequently wear took place around close by the steering rack body. Can a bush
etc be placed for a new tie rod to prevent a similar occurrence.
I would change the bad one and inspect the rest.
Inner tie rods are at each end of the steering rack, and outer tie rods attach inner tie rods to steering knuckles (what wheels attach to).
inner or outer? jaybird1980
Yes.
There are two types of tie rods on a 2000 Dodge neon. The outer-tie rod connect to the inner-tie rods which mount to the steering rack. The outer units are threaded on to the inner- tie rods. Remove them by spinning it counter clockwise. Take a special tie rod socket to remove the inner-tie rod. Replace the units.
replace inner tierod on '99 camray
You have to have the car in the air with the tire off. you take the outer tie rod off by taking the nut that holds it to the knuckle, loosening the nut that holds the inner and outer tie rods together. spin off the the outer tie rod and count the rotations. remove the boot that is on the rack and inner tie rod. you will need the inner tie rod tool to remove the inner tie rod then reverse to put together.
$180 ( 2 hours max ) for labor, you should not pay more than that.
A car may sway after putting new inner tie rods due to corrosion. This may also be due to the tie rods being uneven.
They are located in the inner segment of photoreceptors.
There are small clips on the end of the rods. You have to remove the clips and then you can remove the hydraulic rods.
Put the vehicle on a rack and inspect the tie rods.
