Check the bulbs. If these are OK it could be the switch on the brake pedal arm.
Hi turn the wheels on full lock there is a flap in the wheel arch you access the head light bulbs there.
There is a bloke on eBay who sells booklets. A step by step procedure on how to decimantle the dash and put the new bulbs in. He also supplies 4 bulbs. It's about �7.99.
they are 12V w5w 5W bulbs.. hope that helps

Need to be more specific regarding model and actual lamp which is in-op. On some earlier Astra's,the instrument illumination bulbs could be replaced by simply reaching up the back of the dash and feeling for the square twist-out bulbholders. Some later models need dismantling for access.
make sure the selector switch for the lights in in the right position you may have put it to on accidentally

There is a service flap in the rear quarter panel,inside the boot.Undo the two plastic nuts,release the wiring loom plug and then you can get to the rear lamp cluster.Replace bulbs as required by twisting out the holder.
