How do you change oil on a 2001 sportster 1200
there should be a hose at the bottom of the bike with a cap in it. a service manuel would be worth it's weaight in gold for anyone to do basic service on your motorcycle.
Under the motor
amsoil 10w 30 the best money can buy
20/50 SYNTHETIC OR REGULAR MOTOR OIL............ CHUCK MC
just behind the starter motor on a 1994 harley Davidson sportster is what looks like some sort of oil-outlet hose does anyone know where this hose is connected to
This will depend upon whether this is a Sportster engine (which has two separate oil supplies) or a Big Twin (which has three).
The Factory will usually put in and Recommend Harleys own 20W50 which is actually produced by Citgo. After 500-1,000 Mile Break In .. I recommend switching to a Synthetic such as Amsoil, Mobil 1, or Redline. I have been using Amsoil Motorcycle 20W50 Synthetic on my 2004 Sportster for 3 years now on Both Engine and Primary/Tranny Applications with great results...
This depends on the motorcycle. My Harley Davidson Sportster is dry sump and the tank only holds 2.8 quarts. Most motorcycles with tanks hold about 3 quarts. 2 cycle motorcycles don't have motor oil. Its in the gas.
On a 1986-2003 there is a drain hose. Look under the motor and there is a rubber hose with a worm clamp on it, it attaches to a bung on the frame. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose from the bung.
Your 1976 sportster holds one quart of fluid. I use HD Sportlube or HD PRI ANDTRANS LUBE, but in the olden days I used a 20 wt non detergent motor oil. This fluid lubes the clutches and transmission gears and primary chain.
the 1340 evolution motor by harley davidson is 84cc.
