To change the oil filter on a 1997 Hyundai Excel, first, ensure the engine is cool and then raise the vehicle using jack stands. Place a drain pan underneath the oil filter, then use an oil filter wrench to unscrew the old filter, allowing any residual oil to drain out. Before installing the new filter, apply a bit of new oil to the rubber gasket on the filter, then screw it on by hand until snug. Finally, replace the oil, check for leaks, and dispose of the old filter properly.

The oil filter and sump for the 2007 Getz at least can be found at the bottom of the engine bay. You have to get under the car so ensure the hand brake is on. The filter is under the engine, on the driver side of the car but not too much off centre. It is partly hidden by a plastic shield which can be taken of with the help of your 10mm socket and extension. But not absolutely necessary to remove the plastic shield. The sump is directly behind that (towards the back of the car), and the plug is on the rear of that, sitting at a slight angle. Have fun
The Valvoline Oil Filter is V05.
