Oil cooled Bandits (600, 650 and 1200, up to 2007 model year):
- Warm up the engine to the operating temperature. It's necessary for the quicker and more thorough draining of the oil.
- Remove the oil filler cap.
- Remove the oil drain plug (pay attention to the thread direction - the plug is upside-down) and drain the oil. The engine and oil are hot, so take adequate precautions to avoid burns.
- Remove the oil filter. If it was installed too tight and you don't have the filter wrench you can drive a sharp screwdriver through the filter and use it as a handle.
- Install the new oil filter. Smear some oil over the rubber gasket and tighten by hand only.
- Reinstall the oil drain plug. Replace the crush washer if it's worn and do not over-tighten the plug.
- Pour new oil through the filler hole. Use a long narrow funnel or make one out of cardboard.
Oil capacity (GSF1200):
Engine oil, without filter.............3.3L (3.5 US/2.9 /IMP Qt)
With filter.................................3.5L (3.7 US/3.1 /IMP Qt)
Engine overhaul........................4.6L (4.9 US/4.0 /IMP Qt)
- Replace the oil filler cap.
- Run the engine for a while. This is necessary to distribute the oil throughout the engine.
- Check oil level and add more oil if necessary. Oil level is checked while the bike is vertical with you sitting on it and both wheels on the ground (not on the center stand). If you check oil level while on the center stand, do not fill to more than 1/3 of the oil check window (the level goes up by about 1/3 to 1/2 when the bike is on the wheels).
The previous answer was apparently for the water cooled engine. I cannot confirm it's accuracy:
You must remove the radiator hose to get the filter out. It states this in the manual. That's why I sold mine. Then remove the tank and refill the radiator.
10w-40 semi synthetic 4 stroke oil will do nicely! Just under 4 liters for an oil change.
a bandit 600 takes 3300ml of 10W40 semi synthetic oil :) i hope this helps :)
The 1996 Suzuki Bandit motorcycle can use any 10W-30 motor oil. A heavier motor oil can be used in extreme climates.
10w 40 its on the side of the bike lol
Under the bike on the left side is a 17mm nut.
I have a 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200s with over 116k miles. Original clutch, have never had any engine work. Whenever I've checked the valves there have been only 2 or 3 that were .001 off. I change the oil every 2k miles and use MC oil. I ride year round in Northern Va.
To change the CVT gear oil in Suzuki Swift, you need a 4L can for your car.
Obviously, like other motorcycles Suzuki requires maintenance as well, change oil filter as well on every engine oil change.

No you only change the filter when you change the oil.
521 ml SAE10. Or 97 mm level with compressed forkleg without spring.
