You will need a 36mm socket and a small torqs driver. Get it up on ramps and take the plastic cover off with the torqs and you will see the oil filter near the front of the car. There is a plastic cap which you can unscrew with your hand. Look up inside the filter and you will see the oil drain, place something under it to catch the oil, then press up and slightly over with a screw driver, oil will run down your arm. Once this drains, take the 36mm socket and remove the botom of the filter housing. Remove old paper filter and rubber O ring and replace with new. I got mine at NAPA. Make sure you move the filter drain plug back into position before you put it back on the car. It is spring loaded and should pop back into place with a little manipulation.
At the lowest point of the engine's oil pan, there's going to be a 17MM bolt that is your oil oil drain plug. The hole that this bolt plugs faces towards the back of the car, so you want to make sure your drain pan is slightly behind the motor. Take this bolt all of the way out and your oil should start to drain.
At the very front of the car, located almost between the starter and the alternator, directly behind the radiator, is your oil filter. The oil filter should be hand tight, so it should come off without tools. If it's too tight, grab it with a filter wrench or large Channel Locks. If this still doesn't work, you may have to puncture the filter with a screwdriver and use the screwdriver to turn the filter off. This can be messy though.
After the filter is off and the oil has stopped pouring from the hole in the oil pan, replace the bolt into the drain hole and tighten. Do not overtighten the bolt. It is advised to replace the copper crush-washer under the head of the bolt to prevent dripping oil.
Smear a ring of fresh oil around the gasket of the new oil filter and screw the new oil filter in place. Only screw the filter on hand tight. Use no tools.
Open up the oil fill cap on top of the valve cover and add four quarts of 10W-40. After you do this, run the car at idle, no revving, for about a minute to ciruclate the new oil and you're done!
See the other FAQ thread about the use of an oil filter wrench when carrying out an oil change.
Remove the oil pan drain plug from the bottom of your oil pan. Allow the oil to drain out into a drip pan. Replace the oil pan plug to its original position. Fill the engine with new oil.
To change the oil in a 74 VW beetle, first locate the drain plug in the middle of the case. Drain and put in 3 1/4 quarts of oil.
The right types of fluids have to be in the car to keep it running smoothly. A 2003 Audi A6 Quattro 3.0 uses 5W-40 engine oil.
Use Exactly what Audi recommends as written in your owners manual. You listed no year so I would only be guessing.
19mm socket for the oil drain plug and a oil filter wrench if your not manly like me
Well i have an Audi a6 2000 and my oil change was $80.00.
About 5.25 with filter.
4.5 quarts
Lifetime.
5k with Mineral or 7.5k with synthetic.
For the 2003 1.8T Audi TT you should consider oil changes every 5,000 miles with full synthetic oil as turbo charged engines run hotter when enjoyed. Also, always change the oil filter when you change the oil.
