I have a 1994 Ford f 150 supercab 4x4 5.8 liter 4x4 auto, an have been having a rear main leak ever since I bought it, I picked up the part, but see its a one piece unit.. which means i either have to drop the motor or the tranny.. I have some mechanical experience since working in GM garages over the years, but does any one know if there is a manual that may speed things up ?

If it is the rear main seal that is leaking, the tranny must be separated from the engine housing.
You MUST remove the oil pan to change the rear main seal. It's the only way because it is a 2 piece seal that fits in the rear main cap and block.
